The beautiful
Sorcha
Our Immersive Room is named in loving memory of beautiful Sorcha, a little girl who touched many hearts.

Born on 16th May 2017, Sorcha was diagnosed as a baby with a rare genetic condition, SCN2A mutation, which caused complex health needs including epilepsy, global developmental delay, and movement difficulties. Despite her challenges, Sorcha was always smiling and showed incredible strength.
Our connection with Sorcha began in 2020 when we delivered a bespoke sensory pack during lockdown.
Children with profound and multiple learning disabilities, like Sorcha, inspired much of the design for our immersive space. And mum, Fiona, kindly helped to strengthen our funding application by sharing the family's experiences of lockdown whilst caring for a clinically extremely vulnerable child.
Sadly, beautiful Sorcha passed away on 27th September 2021 due to respiratory complications, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Naming our immersive room 'Sorcha’s Sanctuary' felt like the perfect way to honour her life and legacy.

Sorcha’s mum, Fiona, shared:
“The Sensory Hive has created a fab, safe, happy environment that I know Sorcha would have loved. I am so grateful that her name and legacy will live on here.”

We send love to Fiona, Peter, Nuala and the rest of Sorcha's family and remember her with every smile our immersive room brings!
